*Please note that the programme for 6th class on relationships and sexuality is usually done in the final term each year. This year the onus is on you, the parents, to explain the facts of life to your own child and it is very important that this is done before he goes to secondary school.

Fifth & Sixth Class

New for 5th class:

Male:Testicle growth, scrotum, erection, sperm production, nocturnal emissions (wet dreams)

Female: ovaries, fallopian tube, uterus, cervix

New for 6th Class:

Production of egg (ovum), ovulation, sperm

How they meet – fertilisation

Conception: man’s penis enters woman’s vagina

Menstrual cycle: either readiness for conception or a period
