School work at home for Ms. O’ Leary’s 3rd Class11th-15th January 2021 |
|
Note from your teacher:
Hello 3rd Class, I hope you all enjoyed the extended Christmas break and that you all had fun with your families over the past couple of weeks. I’m sure, like me, you will miss school over the next number of weeks. However, I have no doubt that all of you will work really hard on Seesaw as you did last spring/summer. We will be able to put all our Seesaw expertise to use over the next number of weeks. Below I have outlined the work I would like for you to complete this week. Like last year, Ms. Owens and I will be uploading videos and activities to Seesaw for you to complete. Please login daily to check for announcements and to upload your work. Seesaw has a new feature which allows us to print our worksheets if we wish to do so. If you click the three dots in the bottom right corner of a task, you can click the option ‘print’. You can then complete your worksheet and upload a picture of your work to Seesaw. If you’d rather enter text boxes/write on worksheets using the Seesaw app, that too is a perfect way of completing your work. Remember to click the green tick to save and submit your work. If you have any questions throughout the week or issues with login details /uploading work, please do not hesitate to contact me @ coleary@charlevillecbsprimary.ie Have a lovely week. From, Ms. O’ Leary |

‘Active HOME Week’ Challenge (April 27th – May 3rd) As you know ‘Active SCHOOL Week’ takes place every year and is a really enjoyable part of the school year for many children. This year, because of Covid-19 it is not possible for this to go ahead right now so we are asking you to participate in the ‘Active HOME Week’ challenge instead.
ABOUT the Challenge The idea of the #ActiveHomeWeek challenge is to: · Reach out to parents/guardians to support the work that is taking place in their school · Support parents by providing them with ideas and a challenge format to encourage children to build physical activity into their day · Encourage children to find NEW ways of being physically active that they ENJOY · Raise awareness about the fact that children need at least 60 minutes of physical activity every day To complete the challenge children have to find four different ways of being active every day making sure that this add up to 60 MINUTES, or more. Children are encouraged to try something NEW, have FUN with a family activity and to ENJOY the week!
IDEAS There are so many great physical activity suggestions in circulation at the moment from local/national sports clubs, role models and agencies that we decided to organise them into an IDEAS word cloud graphic. All of the activities in the word cloud can be viewed ‘in action’ and ‘in the one place’ @activeflag The Twitter feed includes activities to suit children of all ages, abilities and interests with indoor and outdoor options and ideas about how to make sports equipment out of every day household items. It’s definitely worth a look The word cloud is designed to make it easy for parents and children to find ways to complete the challenge, but children don’t have to stick with just these ideas. They can use activities, not listed here, that they are already doing or create new activities of their own. You might decide as a school to suggest activities or to create your own school/teacher challenges! CHALLENGE Charts
Parents are welcome to return the completed challenge charts to your school in whatever manner is easiest for them, and in whatever way that suits your school best.
Send your pictures or videos of you keeping active at home to Ms. Sheedy at msheedy@charlevillecbsprimary.ie Joe Wicks is running his 30 minute PE lessons live at 9am every morning, this would be a great way to start your day with all of your family https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=joe+wicks+PE+ |

Drama/Oral Language | Pretend you visit a pet shop where you see all the pets you saw in your Irish work this week.
Create and act out a piece of drama using loads of interesting sentences that tell the story of you entering the shop, talking to the shop keeper, picking out your pet of choice, paying using your money and then leaving the shop. Perhaps something interesting or funny may happen when you are in the pet shop. For example, maybe you forgot your money or maybe the pet shop owner opened the cage with the hamsters and then all the hamster escaped. If you would like to create another drama, you could create and act out a piece of drama where you bring your pet to a destination on your ‘Tourist Map of Ireland’ as seen in your Small World book on pg.70. If you would like to record a video of your drama and upload it to your account on Seesaw, Ms. Crookes and I would love to see your creations |
Hello everyone,
Please see below the work I have assigned for the coming week (week beginning 30th March – 3rd April). I have assigned work daily and I’ve also included a fun educational activity for children to complete every day.

Please remind your child to login to Microsoft Outlook daily to view the work assigned. If your child is having trouble logging in please email me @ coleary@charlevillecbsprimary.ie.
If you do not have a printer, children can write the answers to the questions/sums into a copy.

Well done to all the boys for working hard over the past two weeks. I have received lovely emails from boys and I’m really impressed with all the books they have read on Get Epic. We have finished 350 books in two weeks. This is amazing news.
Last week our task of the week was ‘learning how to tie our shoelaces’. We may need to work on this skill again this week. I have also set a new task for this week which is to ‘make your own bed every morning’. Best of luck!
Keep up the good work boys and if you have any questions no matter how small please email me.
Hoping to see you all soon.
Ms. O’ Leary 😊
